Responsible gambling for UK players

Free help for UK players

If gambling is hurting you or someone close to you, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 if you are in England or Scotland, or the NHS Wales Helpline on 0808 2819 265 if you are in Wales. Both lines are listed on the GambleAware help page.

Gamstop is the national service for blocking yourself from gambling sites, and GambleAware offers help and information. These support services are available only to Great Britain residents. We hold no helpline number for Northern Ireland, so we give none.

Keep it in proportion

Set a deposit limit and a time limit before you play, and keep to them. Decide an amount you can afford to lose, treat it as spent, and stop when it is gone. Do not play with money meant for rent, bills or food, and do not borrow to gamble.

Take breaks at regular intervals, and take a longer break if you notice you are chasing losses, playing for longer than planned or hiding how much you play. Those are signs to stop and talk to someone: the help lines are at the top of this page.

Before you deposit, look in the casino's own terms for deposit limits, time-outs and account closure or self-exclusion. We have recorded no casino's stated tools for this page, so we report none and do not guess at them. A casino whose terms give you no way to limit your play is one to leave alone.

Self-exclusion and Curacao casinos

If you have self-excluded, do not open an account at a Curacao casino. A casino abroad is never a way around a self-exclusion, and an exclusion you chose is there to protect you.

Gamstop blocks you from gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain. A casino licensed in Curacao is outside that licensing, so a Gamstop registration does not reach it. That gap is the reason this page asks you to keep away.

A self-exclusion with one casino covers that casino alone. We have recorded no Curacao casino's self-exclusion terms for this page, so we state none. Read what a casino's terms say it covers and for how long before relying on it, and ask its support to confirm the details in writing.

Two other pages on this site cover the background: Curacao licences and UK law, and whether Curacao casinos are safe for UK players.

Adults only

Gambling is for adults only. The minimum legal age for online gambling in Great Britain is 18 in most cases, and this site is meant for readers aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, do not open a casino account.

On a shared device, set up a separate password-protected user account for each person, and keep the password for any account used for gambling private. Turn on the content restrictions in the device's own settings, or in your internet provider's or router's settings if they offer them, and set them to block gambling sites. The steps differ between devices, so follow your device's own instructions. We name no blocking product here.

Keep payment cards, saved card details and cryptocurrency wallets out of reach of anyone under 18, and lock the device when you step away.
